A massive sculpture of the
Earth itself forms a dramatic centrepiece.
The Atrium consists of six sculpture display units
which consist of glass base plinths, minerals,
graphics, interactive monitors and a twenty foot
high sculptured figure. The themes are based on
the astronaut, science and the arts.
The elscalator takes the visitor
through the middle of the 100 foot sphere, which
is suspended in the main void of the atrium. Oxidised,
beaten metal panels are riveted onto a framework
and the whole unit slowly rotates. The lighting
and projection creatures textures and movement
to recreate an abstract version of the earths
core and shifting magna plates. |
